RESUMO

ObjectiveTo analyze the criminal behavior characteristics of alcohol-related crime offenders and explore the relationship between criminal behavior characteristics and criminal responsibility capacity. MethodsBasic information, alcohol use information, psychiatric symptoms before and after the crime, criminological behavioral characteristics and conclusion of judicial evaluation were collected. ResultsThe drinking history of the chronic alcoholism group 25.0 (13.3~30.0) years was significantly longer than that of the acute alcoholism group 1.2 (0~14.3) years. In the chronic alcoholism group, 85.0% drank alcohol at least once a day, 52.5% had morning or bedtime drinking habits, and 92.5% drank mainly alone. Violent crimes accounted for 57.6%. Delirium existed in 52.5% of the chronic alcoholics' mental state at the time of the crime, and 84.6% of the acute alcoholics' mental state was hazy. In the chronic alcoholism group, 42.5% committed the crime with pathological motive, and in the acute alcoholism group, 69.2% committed the crime with realistic motive. Acute alcoholism group 96.2% were assessed as complete criminal responsibility capacity, and chronic alcoholism group 50.0% were assessed as complete criminal responsibility capacity. ConclusionCompared with acute alcoholism offenders, chronic alcoholics had a longer drinking duration, more frequency drinking, and obvious morning drinking or bedtime drinking habits. The nature of alcoholism crime cases was mostly violent. Compared with the chronic alcoholism group, the acute alcoholism group had highly selective motives for committing crimes and were mostly rated as complete criminally responsibility.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE@#To assess the value of copy number variation sequencing (CNV-seq) for the diagnosis of children with intellectual disability (ID), developmental delay (DD), and autistic spectrum disorder (ASD).@*METHODS@#Forty patients with ID/DD/ASD referred to Nanshan Maternity and Child Health Care Hospital from September 2018 to January 2022 were enrolled. G-banded karyotyping analysis was carried out for the patients. Genomic DNA was extracted from peripheral blood samples and subjected to CNV-Seq analysis to detect chromosome copy number variations (CNVs) in such patients. ClinVar, DECIPHER, OMIM and other database were searched for data annotation.@*RESULTS@#Among the 40 patients (including 30 males and 10 females), 16, 15 and 6 were diagnosed with ID, DD and ASD, respectively. One patient had combined symptoms of ID and DD, whilst the remaining two had combined ID and ASD. Four patients were found with abnormal karyotypes, including 47,XY,+mar, 46,XY,inv(8)(p11.2q21.2), 46,XX,del(5)(p14) and 46,XX[76]/46,X,dup(X)(p21.1q12). Chromosome polymorphism was also found in two other patients. CNV-seq analysis has detected 32 CNVs in 20 patients (50.0%, 20/40). Pathogenic CNVs were found in 10 patients (25.0%), 15 CNVs of uncertain clinical significance were found in 12 patients (30.0%), and 7 likely benign CNVs were found in 4 patients (10.0%).@*CONCLUSION@#Chromosome CNVs play an important role in the pathogenesis of ID/DD/ASD. CNV-seq can detect chromosomal abnormalities including microdeletions and microduplications, which could provide a powerful tool for revealing the genetic etiology of ID/DD/ASD patients.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE@#To evaluate the antidiarrheal effect of ethanol extract of Glycyrrhiza uralensis Fisch root (GFR) in vivo and jejunal contraction in vitro.@*METHODS@#In vivo, 50 mice were divided into negative control, positive control (verapamil), low-, medium- and high-dose GFR (250, 500, 1,000 mg/kg) groups by a random number table, 10 mice in each group. The antidiarrheal activity was evaluated in castor oil-induced diarrhea mice model by evacuation index (EI). In vitro, the effects of GFR (0.01, 0.03, 0.1, 0.3, 1, 3, and 10 g/L) on the spontaneous contraction of isolated smooth muscle of rabbit jejunum and contraction of pretreated by Acetylcholine (ACh, 10 µmol/L) and KCl (60 mmol/L) were observed for 200 s. In addition, CaCl2 was accumulated to further study its mechanism after pretreating jejunal smooth muscle with GFR (1 and 3 g/L) or verapamil (0.03 and 0.1 µmol/L) in a Ca2+-free-high-K+ solution containing ethylene diamine tetraacetic acid (EDTA).@*RESULTS@#GFR (500 and 1,000 mg/kg) significantly reduced EI in castor oil-induced diarrhea model mice (P<0.01). Meanwhile, GFR (0.01, 0.03, 0.1, 0.3, 1, 3, and 10 g/L) inhibited the spontaneous contraction of rabbit jejunum (P<0.05 or P<0.01). Contraction of jejunums samples pretreated by ACh and KCl with 50% effective concentration (EC50) values was 1.05 (0.71-1.24), 0.34 (0.29-0.41) and 0.15 (0.11-0.20) g/L, respectively. In addition, GFR moved the concentration-effect curve of CaCl2 down to the right, showing a similar effect to verapamil.@*CONCLUSIONS@#GFR can effectively against diarrhea and inhibit intestinal contraction, and these antidiarrheal effects may be based on blocking L-type Ca2+ channels and muscarinic receptors.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE@#To analyze the results of concurrent hearing and deafness genetic screening and follow up of newborns.@*METHODS@#In total 33 911 babies born to 5 designated hospitals in Nanshan District of Shenzhen city from October 2017 to December 2019 were included. All subjects underwent concurrent hearing and deafness genetic screening covering 21 variants of 4 genes including GJB2, SLC26A4, GJB3 and Mt12SrRNA. For those with positive results, Sanger sequencing was carried out for confirmation.@*RESULTS@#93.32% subjects passed the first-round hearing screening, and 87.01% passed the recheck testing. The overall detection rate was 4.18%. The detection rates for GJB2, SLC26A4, GJB3 and Mt12srRNA variants were 1.98%, 1.58%, 0.37% and 0.25%, respectively. 126 and 84 subjects were found with high risk for delayed-onset and drug-induced hearing loss, respectively. In addition, 4 and 5 subjects were found to harbor homozygous/compound heterozygous variants of the GJB2 and SLC26A4 genes, respectively. Concurrent screening showed that subjects (with heterozygous variants) who did not passed the two round hearing test were as follows: GJB2 with 6.75% in the first round and 2.61% in the second round testing, SLC26A4 (3.3%/1.2%), GJB3 (0.72%/0.14%) and 12SrRNA (0.36%/Nil), respectively. Moreover, the No-pass rate in the subjects with homozygous or compound variants in single gene, heterozygous variant in single gene, heterozygous variant in multiple genes, and homozygous variant in GJB3 gene were significantly higher than the subjects with negative results of genetic screening.@*CONCLUSION@#Concurrent newborn genetic screening can enhance the effectiveness of hearing screening and enable earlier identification and intervention for children with hearing impairment. Follow-up can improve the diagnostic rate for children who are positive for the concurrent screening. Nevertheless, genetic and hearing screening cannot replace the diagnostic testing. It is necessary to conduct comprehensive analysis for the results of genetic and hearing screening and radiological examinations. Sanger sequencing and next-generation sequencing are critical for ascertain the diagnosis.

RESUMO

Objective To explore the impulse control and event-related potential (ERP) characteristics of patients with mental disorders caused by traumatic brain injury (TBI) in forensic psychiatry identification and to provide objective auxiliary indicators for forensic psychiatry identification. Methods Thirty patients (TBI group) with mental disorders caused by traumatic brain injury, who were identified as mild psychiatric impairment by judicial psychiatry, including 24 males and 6 females, as well as the thirty people in the control group participated in the study. All the participants completed Barratt Impulsiveness Scale-11 (BIS-11) and ERP induced by Go/NoGo tasks. BIS-11 and ERP data were collected and analyzed. Results The results of the BIS-11 showed that the total score and subscale scores of the TBI group were higher compared to the control group (P<0.05). Moreover, the TBI group exhibited significantly lower NoGo-N2 amplitude and lower NoGo-P3 amplitude than the control group. The NoGo-N2 amplitude was larger than the Go-N2 amplitude, and the NoGo-P3 amplitude was larger than the Go-P3 amplitude in both groups (P<0.05). Conclusion Traumatic brain injury could impair impulse control of mild psychiatric impairment patients, and the amplitudes of NoGo-N2 and NoGo-P3 could be important parameters to evaluate the impulse control of patients with mental disorders caused by traumatic brain injury.

RESUMO

Objective To investigate the clinical significance of restrictive foramen ovale ( RFO ) monitored by fetal echocardiography during the middle to late stage of pregnancy . Methods The detection rate ,echocardiographic features and outcome in fetuses with RFO without cardiac malformations from 7319 pregnant women received prenatal echocardiography were retrospectively reviewed and analyzed . Results RFO was found in 40 of 7319 (0 .55% ) fetuses . The inclusion criteria including a narrow right to left shunt of less than 2 .5 mm in diameter across atrial septum , enlarged right atrium , increased right-to-left ventricular size ratio ,and increased size ratio of main pulmonary artery to aorta were present in 40 fetuses . The direct ultrasound characters of RFO included limited opening of oval valve ( 70% ) and foramen ovale diameter less than 2 .5 mm (30% ) . And atrial septal aneurysm ( 62 .5% ) ,redundant primum atrial septum (57 .5% ) ,abnormal ductus arteriosus ( 57 .5% ) might also be present commonly in RFO . As the gestational weeks increased , the size ratio of right-to-left atrium , right-to-left ventricle and the main pulmonary artery to aorta also increased significantly( P =0 .004 , P <0 .001 , P <0 .001) . Among the 40 fetuses with RFO ,21 cases ( 52 .5% ) gave birth in full term ,8 cases ( 20% ) which were detected severe tricuspid regurgitation gave birth in early cesarean section ,5 cases ( 12 .5% ) had induced labor and 6 cases (15% ) were lost in the follow-up . Of the 29 newborns ,only 1 case died of heart failure ,and the other 28 subjects recovered both from heart structure or cardiac function within four months . Conclusions RFOwithout cardiac malformations presents echocardiographic features characterized by a narrow right to left shunt of less than 2 .5 mm in diameter across atrial septum . Fetal echocardiography can monitor the dynamic change of fetal heart structure and function based on the increase of right heart load and decrease of left heart volume ,which has important clinical significance for assessing fetal intrauterine condition and prognosis .

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To observe the effect of electroacupuncture (EA) stimulation of "Shangjuxu" (ST 37, Lower Confluent point) and "Tianshu" (ST 25, Front-Mu point) on visceral pain and expression of colonic tryptase(Try), proteinase-activated receptor 2(PAR-2),transient receptor potential channel vanilloid subfamily member 1 (TPRV 1),substance P (SP) and calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) in rats with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), so as to explore its mechanisms underlying improvement of IBS. METHODS: Forty male Sprague Dawley rats were equally randomized into normal control (control), model, medication and EA groups (n=10 in each). The IBS model was established by chronic acute combining stress (CACS, water deprivation, fasting, tail clamping, forced swimming in ice water, restraint, etc.) for 21 days. Rats of the medication group were treated by gavage of Pinaverium Bromide (1 mg/mL, 15 mg/kg), once daily for 14 d. EA (10 Hz/50 Hz, 0.2-0.3 mA) was applied to bilateral ST 37 and ST 25 for 30 min, once daily for 14 d. The muscular withdrawal reflex (AWR) of both abdomen and buttock was detected by colorectal distension (CRD) with a water-filled balloon for examining the visceral hypersensitivity. The number of mast cells in the colonic tissue was counted after toluidine blue stain. The immunoactivity of colonic Try was determined by immunochemistry and the expression of colonic PAR-2, TRVP 1, SP and CGRP proteins detected by Western blot. RESULTS: After modeling, the body weight was significantly decreased in IBS rats of the model, medication and EA groups compared with their own individual pre-treatment and with the control group (P0.05).. CONCLUSION: EA of ST 37 and ST 25 can relieve visceral hypersensitivity in IBS rats, which may be associated with its effects in down-regulating the number of MC and the expression of PAR-2, TRVP 1, SP, CGRP and Try proteins in the colonic tissue.
